Ricotta & Fior di Ricotta
Literally translated, “re-cooked,” ricotta is a fresh, creamy white and granular cheese that is mild and slightly sweet. It is created from reheating whey that is left over from the production of other cheeses, such as provolone. Fior di ricotta, “ricotta’s flower,” is the best selection from our ricotta.
Due to ricotta’s mild characteristics, it can be enjoyed in a number of both savory and sweet dishes. At Mozzarella Store, we use it as the base for many of our signature desserts such as our crunchy, sweet cannoli.
